Rapid Automated Aerobic Culture, Automated-MIC, MALDITOF-MS, KBDD
Specimen
Collect 8-10 mL blood aseptically in special Plus Aerobic bottle available from LPL. For children less than 12 yrs collect 2 mL blood in Special Paeds Plus bottle available from LPL. Mix by gentle swirling. Ship at room temperature.
Usage
Rapid automated cultures can identify the organisms earlier and with increased sensitivity as compared to conventional culture. On identification of the organism, antibiotic susceptibilities are performed that aid in selection of appropriate antibiotic for treatment.
