Specimen

2 g (0.5 g min.) fresh Stool in a sterile screw capped container. Ship refrigerated. DO NOT FREEZE. For patients using diapers, first line the diaper with clean plastic to prevent absorption.

Usage

Clostridium difficile is a bacterial pathogen that causes Pseudo-membranous colitis and antibiotic associated diarrhoea. It produces toxins A & B which are enterotoxins. A positive result is considered presumptive evidence of Clostridium diffcile infection.
